On October 22, 2026, more than 1,500 students at Dong Ngac Primary School in Hanoi took part in School Tour 2026 “Mầm Xanh Đến Trường”. As one of the program’s companion partners, Haplast Joint Stock Company donated 200 rolls of HapBio® compostable trash bags at the event. The gift supports the habit the program teaches: sorting waste correctly, because compostable bags only deliver their intended benefit when they reach the right disposal stream.

What happened at School Tour 2026 in Dong Ngac?

School Tour 2026 “Mầm Xanh Đến Trường” is an experiential education series for primary and lower secondary students in Hanoi. It is organized by the Youth for Environment project of the For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF), with the support of Bac A Bank, Tetra Pak Vietnam, Pacific Environment Vietnam, the Vietnam Zero Waste Alliance, Haplast and many schools across the city.

At Dong Ngac Primary School, the day combined hands-on learning with play:

1. STEM projects from used materials. Students turned plastic bottles, cardboard and old items into STEM creations, then exhibited them by grade and presented their ideas.
2. Environmental quiz. 100 students representing grades 4 and 5 competed in a quiz that tested how quickly they could apply what they had learned.
3. Talkshow and interactive games. Environmental experts helped students look at plastic waste from an everyday perspective and discuss practical actions.

The message was simple and concrete. Small daily actions, from sorting waste correctly and carrying a personal water bottle to limiting single-use plastics, can add up to positive change. Haplast also joined the program earlier this month at School Tour 2026 at Yen Vien Primary School on October 7.

Why compostable trash bags need waste sorting

Compostable trash bags are designed to biodegrade under specific composting conditions, so their benefit depends on how they are sorted and collected after use. That is why waste sorting education matters for every compostable bag, whether it is certified for industrial or home composting.

HapBio® products are designed to biodegrade under industrial composting conditions. They are intended for composting, not for streets or rivers. A bag that is littered or mixed into the wrong waste stream will not deliver the benefit it was designed for.

HAPBIO shares the program’s starting point: reduce and reuse first. Where a single-use bag is still needed, for example for kitchen waste, a certified compostable bag is an alternative to conventional single-use plastic, provided it ends up in the right collection stream. Garbage bags on roll are one of HAPBIO’s seven core product groups.

What this means for HAPBIO partners

The lesson from the classroom also applies to retailers, brands and waste management programs: a compostable claim is only credible when it comes with clear disposal conditions, the right certification and simple guidance for end users.

HAPBIO’s portfolio includes products certified OK compost HOME and OK compost INDUSTRIAL by TÜV AUSTRIA, and BPI Certified Compostable. Certification applies to specific materials and products, so we encourage partners to ask us for the certificate covering the exact SKU they are sourcing.

For custom orders, HAPBIO can adjust size, thickness and roll configuration, and print logos, environmental messages and after-use disposal instructions. Products are made at the HAPBIO factory in Hung Yen, which has a design capacity of 34,000 tons per year. Explore the HapBio® compostable product range.
